The light coupled to cladding modes by LPG can be transferred to a bi-conically tapered fiber. To get a higher coupling, the phase-matching condition between the cladding modes of LPG and the tapered fiber must be satisfied, the coupling region should be located just behind the LPG, and the gap between the two fibers should be decreased as much as possible. This kind of coupling provides a possible method to monitor the characteristics of the LPG which was used in the devices or systems and may be used in developing some special devices.
